# Filtering

> Control which sessions Lucent processes for each project.

Filtering controls which sessions Lucent processes and analyzes. Each project's
filters apply only to sessions from that project.

## Manage filters for the current project

Filtering applies to the current project selected in the app header. If your
organization has more than one enabled replay source, use the project selector
in the header before opening **Settings → Filtering**. When your organization
has only one enabled replay source, Lucent selects its project automatically and
hides the header selector.

The selected project applies to all filtering controls in the section,
including:

* users
* Excluded URLs
* Required URLs
* anonymous-user handling
* events
* properties

## Add a filter

Select **Add filter**, choose the filter type, and configure its matching rules.
The Add Filter dialog inherits the current project selected in the app header.
It does not contain a separate project or replay-source control.

To add or edit filters for a different project, change the current project in
the app header before opening the Add Filter dialog.

<Note>
  Lucent scopes newly configured filters to the current project. During
  migration, an existing project may temporarily use previously configured
  organization-level user, URL, or anonymous-user settings until project-specific
  settings are available. Newly configured projects use project-specific
  settings.
